En el verano de 1816 Lord Byron, el doctor Polidori y el matrimonio formado por P.B. y Mary Shelley se reunieron en un castillo e hicieron una competición a ver quién escribía la mejor historia de miedo. Hasta ahí la historia. Pero ahora sabemos que los cuatro escritores no fueron casualmente al castillo, sino que acudieron a la llamada de... el Conde. Y es que, tras siglos de inmortalidad, el conde más famoso de las historia descubre que la eternidad no es lo que él esperaba; ansioso por irse de vacaciones y enterado de que en Londres los vampiros andan a plena luz del día y se hacen empresarios, telegrafía al Times y convoca un concurso literario: Yo a Londres y tú a Transilvania. Al que gane se queda con su castillo. Sin embargo sabido es que las cosas nunca suceden como son planeadas. Al llegar, los ingleses descubren que su anfitrión no está: sobre la mesa, una nota del Conde. En ella les dice que pueden ir cenando... sin que terminen de leer, un sonido en las entrañas de la fortaleza les estremece. Un grito espeluznante se reproduce como metralla rápida... ¿hincará el Conde el diente al cuarteto? Entre las sombras acecha un viejo conocido suyo...
