Serbians Sport Ku Klux Klan Gear, Attack Muslims & Blacks, and Get Arrested at a Soccer Match Guardian Unlimited reports that 152 Belgrade fans, including 47 juveniles, have been arrested for hurling racist insults during a recent Serbian second division match. According to police, the offenders shouted anti-Muslim slogans at a Novi Pazar team -- Novi Pazar is a Muslim-majority town in western Serbia -- inciting racial, ethnic and religious hatred and intolerance. They were quickly removed from the stadium. Ultranationalist Serbs often glorify the 1995 Srebrenica massacre of some 8,000 Bosnian Muslims. This hositility has recently been seen at soccer games. This latest event was the second outbreak in four days. In the earlier incident, a player from Zimbabwe was abused by fans who wore white hoods with Ku Klux Klan insignia, performed Nazi salutes, and held a banner saying the player was unwelcome in Serbia. Eight of these individuals face charges of spreading racial hatred as well as prison terms up to five years. Serbia's sports and education minister, Slobodan Vuksanovic, strongly condemned the recent incidents, calling for decisive action and saying, "We don't need to invent any new solutions, we just have to implement what the whole world already has in order to combat this deviation many societies are obviously prone to."
