That's not quite my point, but...the Normans called THEMSELVES "FRENCHMEN"! Not Vikings. Not Danes. But "FRENCH". The Normans were French-that's just the truth. They called themselves FRENCH. it's always best to leave historians to debate whatever needs to be settled in any historical event. but one thing is sure, the more we assert people's differences (race, ethnicity, religion) the more we'll never find the truth. it's not us and they, it's "we".

Name me one example of English destroying one of their own English villages on the run up to Hastings? Name one. In France there was Mortimer and many more besides. Vikings attacked the English villages and the Normans took manificent pride and joy in the destruction and massacres of women and children of English villages on the lead up to Hastings, they would rape then cut the throats of the women, and grab babys by the ankles and have competitions who could throw the furtherest.
