the only reason this car may not sell well is because of economy issues GM fault is waiting too late to get there act together just like Ford...the quality is there now and the looks....i rented a G8 a week ago with the smaller v8 not the bigdog and i clocked 139mph before governor hit it was beautiful in white the material was nice and i had 2of my big hipped cousins in the back with me and had pleeeennnty of room this car is the shit i know GM has let u down but this car is the one trust me...

I was just generalizing. My main point was, many new cars get great reviews by various automotive magazines, including Consumer Reports, but all those Best In Class awards on not based on maintenance and reliability data. They can't be, because the cars evaluated were new. That's why many German and some American cars often get high marks for new cars. But, look at a Consumer Reports magazine for used cars. The "Best Buys" are mostly Japanese, because the selections included repair data.

Just bought this car a month ago. Wow, only time will tell, but I think it may be the best car I've ever owned! I've been buying & driving Europeans for 15 years exclusively and planned to do it again when I stumbled on the G8 GT. The test drive sealed the deal. It renders all European cars available in the U.S. wildly overpriced. My advise to anyone shopping BMW, Benz, Audi, Jaguar, Volvo or SAAB is to take a spin in this thing and you'll end up keeping some money in your pocket as a bonus!

"German cars tend to to perform really well and look pretty good" lets just exclude VW from the list of good performing & looking german cars

That said, I like the way a lot of American cars look and they tend to be cheaper. German cars tend to to perform really well and look pretty good. Japanese cars tend to look bland, perform pretty well and break down far less than all other cars. It all depends on what you want. There are pluses to all, if you choose the right car. I think the way to go is Japanese for high mileage cars, German for performance, American to cruise in style and look cool

Quality is a subjective word that means different things to different people. To me a quality includes the least amount of repairs and lowest maintenance costs. German cars get high marks for NEW cars in many magazines. But, take a look at various consumer and customer based reports on USED cars, which include maintenance costs, repairs and problems. Both German and American cars are weak and the Japanese cars win, hands down. Quality is more than how good it looks and drives. Does it last?

That's the first i've heard of problems like that. I have a Silverado myself and it's an excellent truck. Before that I had a Chevy C1500 which is just the work truck model of the Silverado and I hadn't had any problems with that either.

well, i can tell you that my girlfriend's parents are leasing two gms, one is a 2006 pontiac g6 nearly at the end of it's contract and the other is a 2007 silverado. the g6 has already begun to have multiple problems. both front wheel bearing are faulty, ecu has been unreliable and, according to her father, the automatic tranny is the worse he has ever seen. it jumps and misses shifts...on a 2006. the silverado lacks power on occasion probably due to the maf sensor but other than that it's ok.
