Hardenberger is an excellent trumpet player, but Torteliar18 is correct. It does not matter how good you are, or what instrument your playing. If you play a wrong note, it is in fact a wrong note

Personally, I would play the third up the octave.

Tortelier18, do this: Remove your pants. Wear your piccolo trumpet like a condom. Bend over, take a deep breath, and play some Telemann Marches without removing the piccolo trumpet from you. You need a woman, but no woman will put up with your persnickety sensibilities. Hardenberger rules; you sir, do not.

Tortelier18 shut up. hardenberger is one of the best ever!

I think he plays the cello. Not that I have anything against cellists.

It's so ironic that you mention Schwarz. Have you listened to his recording of Haydn trumpet concerto? (I like Schwarz's playing by the way)
hankyeulyang (April 28th, 2007 @ 5:07 am)
Oh great. I better tell Maurice Andre, Hans Gansch and other fine trumpeters that they must record this concerto again. Look, I can see your point. I've listened to Roger Voisin play this piece and he finishes it with a third. However, I would not doubt that Hakan is one of the greatest.

Tortelier18 go home shut up and put your trumpet on your face and do some practise your questioning hakan hardenberger your some shit kicker that compared to him will always be rubbish
Tortelier18 (April 19th, 2007 @ 6:17 am)
Hakan one of the greatest? Have you heard Vacchiano? Smith? Schwarz? Regardless of what instrument I play, I know what Telemann wrote, and Hardenberger tries to make the ending sound showy, instead of playing the right pitch. He plays the octave when he should play the third, it is simple. And it is not a question of whether the last note is "good," I never said anything like that, the last note is "wrong."
Tortelier18 (April 19th, 2007 @ 6:13 am)
Excuse me, I am completely opposed to the "period performance" bullshit that everyone is so nuts over, but Hakan Hardenberger plays a high note at the end instead of playing the third! Artistic license is one thing, but changing notes is something else. Get a score and shut your mouth.
