I grew up as a military brat overseas in the 80s in Naples, Italy. On SEB-TV (our AFRTS affilliate), they didn't show commercials (only PSAs and local things relevant to us military community folks). So they would play music during commercial breaks or in between programming. That's where I first heard this song. I swore that this was as an old Kool & the Gang song. I spent 20 years looking, and then find out it was Deodato...Kool's PRODUCER around the time this was recorded.

I havent heard that crackling since I was a kid. When my LP records would skip I would weigh down the needle with coins. It worked most of the time.
