So Eighties sounds like Life Goes On and Come As You Are sounds like Eighties. The Damned were no doubt inspired by some other band that had gone before who were in turn inspired by some black dudes in the 30s and 40s! End of the day where does rock and roll start and where does it end!? If Killing Joke can take The Damned's idea and create a great song and Kurt Cobain can take that and create a masterpiece then who cares! Great music is great music no matter how it was influenced!
